Der Frühling ist da. Und deshalb knallen die Blüten auch auf dem Cover der 105. Ausgabe der Spreewelle. Wer überbordenden musikalischen Optimismus erwartet, muss sich etwas gedulden. Die Starplätze werden von melancholischen Elektrotracks besetzt, erst ab Mitte der ersten Halbzeit macht das Herz auf. Und ganz zu Beginn spielen sich dramatische Szenen ab.


Woodkid, das Multitalent aus Brooklyn muss eigentlich einen Oskar gewinnen. Für das beste Re-Arrangement aller Zeiten. Als ich seine invertierte Version von Pharells „Happy“ das erste Mal gehört habe, fiel die Kinnlage herunter und es dauerte, bis sie sich wieder bewegen ließ. Unglaublich, wie Woodkid (der im letzten Jahr mit „I Love You“ selbst einen veritablen Hit hatte, an dem Pharell Hand anlegte) die aktuelle deutsche Nummer 1 in eine sentimentale, tränenreiche Ballade verwandelt ohne dabei andere Hilfmittel zu benutzen als ein Orchester und die Acapella-Tonspur. Hört selbst.





Von wegen „Happy“ also. Mollig geht’s weiter. Eingetrauert werden: Destinys Child „Say My Name“ im Cyril Hahn Remix (dank an Till) und Emeli Sandés „The Read All About It“ im Stefan Biniak Bootleg Mix, der schon seit 2 Spreewellen auf seinen Einsatz wartet. Witzigerweise sind beide Stücke harmonisch exakt identisch und sollten daher auch in der Spreewelle-Kombo gehört werden.

Ähnliche BPM, aber schon etwas heller: Der Track „See Right Through“ von Tensnake. Das deutsche DJ-Projekt klingt dem Fran/Koletzki-Stück „Hypnotized“ nicht unähnlich, auf dem Longplayer „Glow“ gibt es mehr eingängige elektronische Songs, die immer gefährlich nah am kommerziellen Abgrund surfen, sich dann aber doch meistens diesseits des guten Geschmacks halten können.


Tensnake – See Right Through (ft. Fiora)


Jetzt, aber. Tür auf, Luft rein, genug sologetanzt in später Nacht. Die Flight Facilites kommen aus Australien, haben aber nichts mit MH370 zu tun. Ihr „Stand Still“ denkt sich, dass „Young Folks“ nun langsam lang genug her ist, Pfeifen als Hookline ist okay. So ein bißchen haben sie recht. Der Track macht gute Laune und ist auf Position 6 denn auch der erste echte Frühlingssong der 105. Spreewelle.

Nächster Stop Souldisco. Von Jungle haben wir auf den letzten Spreewelle schon viel gehört. Nun ist endlich ihre erste echte Single veröffentlicht. Fettes Ding.


Jungle – Busy Earnin‘


Die 60s/70s-Ecke wird angereichert durch Dra’mans waghalsigen aber gelungenen Versuch, Diana Ross‘ „Upside Down“ mit den Beatles zu verheiraten.





Abgerundet wird die Sektion von Joan As Police Woman. Deren Alben waren schon immer beachtungswürdig. Ihr neuestes „The Classic“ ist genau das, ein instant Klassiker. Die Stimme, die Arrangements, der Sound – das alles ergibt bei JAPW eine unglaublich geölte Einheit. Das kann man auch mit den Worten von zeit.de ausdrücken: „Mit der Stimme einer weisen Straßenkatze singt Joan Wasser ihren Hinterhofsoul“.





Apropos. Frauenstimmen. Die vorliegende Spreewelle hat wohl zum ersten Mal eine ziemliche Unwucht was das Geschlechterverhältnis angeht. Mindestens drei Viertel der Songs werden von Frauen intoniert. Wenn das so weiter geht, muss mal offen über eine Männerquote nachgedacht werden. Da darf es keine Denkverbote geben.





So eröffnet die Seite zwei zum Beispiel ebenfalls eine Frau. Bzw. ein Bandprojekt mit Frontfrau. The Night VI machen eine hypnotische Mischung aus 70er Jahre Indierock und dem Besten von heute. Es gibt Menschen, die vergleichen die Band mit Fleetwood Mac. Mir ziemlich schnuppe. Der Song „Sienna“ ist toll.





Ebenfalls toll, ein bißchen weniger Pathos, aber dafür im Duett: Tom Misch & Carmody mit „The Last Song“. Filigrane Gitarrenloops, eine smoothe Melodie und eine entspannte Whitest-Boy-Alive-Stimmung.





Dass die Spreewelle ein Herz für Chris Martin hat, hat sich spätestens seit der Ausgabe 100 herumgesprochen. Für immer bleibt Parachutes ein großartiges Album. Seitdem ihre Musik weniger nach intimen Herzschmerz klingt, sondern nach O2-Arena riecht, hat sich die Liebe ein bißchen abgekühlt. Dieser Tage veröffentlichen Coldplay „Ghost Stories“. Und zumindest die Single „Magic“ verspricht den dringend notwendigen Minimalismus, von der er mehr bräuchte, um die Band wieder gut zu finden.




Neulich beim überraschend guten Tatort aus Köln überraschte auch die Songauswahl. Der Abspann wurde unterlegt von Ben Howards „Depth Of Distance“, eine B-Seite. Howards Stimme ist Geschmackssache und mein Geschmack ist es nicht unbedingt. Dieser Song aber hat was mystisches.

Lykke Li will sich vom „I I Follow“-Fluch befreien und bringt im Mai ein neues Album heraus. Es ist Großes zu erwarten. Der Vorgeschmack „No Rest For The Wicked“ beweist einmal mehr, das die Schweden die Sache mit dem Songwriting richtig verstanden haben. Und das Lykke Li nicht den Lilly-Allen-Fehler macht und sich ausverkauft.

Schließen wir heute nicht mit Ben Folds, Kings Of Leon, den Mighty Oaks oder We Have Band ab (die alle ebenfalls auf Seite 2 vertreten sind), sondern mit S. Carey. Im wäldlichen Umfeld von Bon Iver groß geworden hat dieser gerade seine dritte Platte rausgebracht. Kontemplative, gedankenverlorene Akustikgitarren und eine verschlafene Sonntagmorgen-Stimme säuseln die Nummer 105 zur Ruhe.
