Das eifrige Listen geht weiter. Wir erinnern uns an ein outstanding Album aus dem letzten Jahr: Mr. Strokes aka Albert Hammond Jr. veröffentlichte da das wunderbare „Yours To Keep“. Sehnsüchtig wurde also der Spätsommer herbeigewartet. Sein zweites Werk „Como Te Liama“ sollte da erscheinen. Es war auch da – aber es schien nicht. Der Glanz der Arrangements war irgendwie verschwunden und ein bißchen bedröppelt musste man sich wieder an das Sehnsuchtsgefühl gewöhnen, bald müsste ja auch ein neues Strokes Album erscheinen. Wie schön, dass außerplanmäßig mal wieder ein Stroke-Mitglied uns das Warten verschönert. Drummer Fabrizzio Moretti nämlich war wohl auch langweilig. Und so nahm er kurzerhand mit der Freundin und nem Kollegen ein Album auf, das er wie die neu gegründete Band nannte. Und so gehört Little Joy zu den ganz späten Dazugehörern der Jahrescharts. Umwerfende zurückhaltene Songs sind da zu hören. Das reichte für den spontanen Platz 20. Und wie entspannt das ist, sieht man hier:
Der deutlich identifizierbare Folkgeschmack gehört sowieso zu den Trends des Obama-Jahres. Der klassisch bratzig-laute Indie-Pop á la Dirty Pretty Things, Wombats oder Kooks fand zwar auch statt, gab sich aber insgesamt weniger zwingend. Doch auch für diese Vertreter gilt: Ein geduldiges Ohr wird belohnt. So wuchs gerade das Album der jungen Kooks mit der Zeit doch heran. Hier mal als kleine Melange der Kooks mit einem Abgesandten der vorderen Platzierungen: Das MGMT-Cover „Kids“.
Und sonst? Natürlich Santogold auf 24! Und sogar noch ein bißchen waghalsiger Pop Levi. Die Bandbreite ihres 2008er Albums „Never Never Alone“ ist, sagen wir mal so: sehr breit. 13 Tracks zwischen experimentalem Hip-Hopping, sprudelndem Pop und glitzernder Scissor Sister-Disco. Hui!
Zwischenfazit: Folk wird lauter, Gitarren bedächtiger, und: die Elektronik ist zurück. Hier die Ränge so wie man sie gern hat: beweglich und käuflich.
