„Not another Corona-Song“: Canadian Singer-Songwriter Pierce Buchanan unveils new Single „Locked In Locked Out“
Spreewelle Recordings releases „Locked In Locked Out,“ the latest single from Quebec-based singer-songwriter Pierce Buchanan. At 45, Buchanan’s musical journey began later in life, having only started making music in his mid-thirties after a dramatic career shift. Formerly a corporate consultant at McKinsey, he resigned abruptly to pursue his passion for music wholeheartedly.
Influenced by Joni Mitchell, Damien Rice and Justin Vernon, Buchanan’s sound is a testament to his deep appreciation for acoustic authenticity. Discovered by Bon Iver’s frontman, Justin Vernon, the two artists share a profound love for nature. „Nature, to me, also means naturalness,“ Buchanan explains, emphasizing his preference for acoustic sounds over more synthesized productions.
Despite its title, „Locked In Locked Out“ is not a reflection on the COVID-19 lockdowns. „I would be a bit late to the party if I started processing that exceptional time now, two years later,“ Buchanan quips. Instead, the song delves into the mundanity of everyday life and the cycle of repetition. „Feeling locked into our own rituals and obligations and feeling locked out from a free, spontaneous life – that’s what this song is about,“ Buchanan shares.
Currently, Pierce Buchanan is hard at work on his debut album, set for release this winter. „Locked In Locked Out“ offers a glimpse into his introspective songwriting and commitment to creating genuine, acoustic music.
